Hoverboards are illegal In UK, well they have actually always been illegal… But now they have made it very blunt to the public that they do not want people riding them on the pavement or on the roads, so basically everywhere.
But in October they have really started cracking down, as they are not allowed on any road, pavement or really anything in England.
This piece of tech, has been so popular, that everyone seems to be buying one! However, DFT ( Department of Transport) have basically banned all of them from the road… I feel bad for any Hoverboard business, because the DFT are even cracking down on businesses selling any type of Hoverboard
”Bad news if you like gliding down the street like a low-rent Marty McFly: “hoverboards” (also known as self-balancing scooters) are illegal to ride in public in Britain, according to guidance released by the Crown Prosecution Service.
The wheeled vehicles, which are an evolution of the infamous Segway “personal transportation device”, are too unsafe to ride on the road, but too dangerous to ride on the pavement, according to legislation. As a result, they are only legal to use on land that is private property, and only with the landowner’s permission, the CPS says. < Quoted from the Guardian. check out the full article here”
This is really bad for the Christmas list this year as this is apparently the most asked and prepaid present for 2015, however even with these laws, I still don’t believe it will stop people from buying a Hoverboard.
