Story Time With James: The Train Journey
Story Time: Good evening you lovely people, well it’s Wednesday and I’m already in bed and so are you… probably. I thought to myself there’s not a better time to do some bedtime stories. Today’s story… My recent train Journey back from London on February 13th, the day before Valentine’s day.
Well if you kept up with me, you would have heard all kinds of stories, from Dave drunk, trying to get with his mate… Susan. To the drunk, rowdy gentleman wants to recruit me to their bloody football club. To the annoying and disrespectful gentleman! But what I didn’t tell you was about Tom, the Turkish teacher…
After dealing with the loud and annoying gentleman in carriage four, I decided I’d had enough; I move over to carriage two…I have a gentleman behind me, so close I am starting to get nervous that he’s about to kiss me.
I sit down at this booth; I have my headphones at the ready, to be honest, the last thing I wanted to do was talk to someone… I am slowly pulling my headphones up to my ears, but before I know it, Tom has opened his mouth. I am usually a very friendly person, but I have just had to deal with the rowdy football lads for two hours I am not in the mood to speak.
Tom is now telling me his life story, he’s telling me about his squad, his home, his life, his friends and he doesn’t stop talking. He’s talking so much he needed to take out his bottle of water just to quench his thirst.
More than anything, though, Tom is talking about this girl, non-stop, what she looks like, the way she smiles and how he loves her but doesn’t have the courage to ask her out for valentines day. He’s written the text; he then deletes it, back and forth… At this point I’m at my wit’s end.. I am tired, angry and thinking about the large Gin and tonic all while Tom is getting closer to my face and telling me more in detail about his french girlfriend.
So I lose it… I take his phone and text the girl asking her to go to Valentines with him… He looked at me shocked, taken back. I then realise what I’ve done. I went overboard, we both look at each other.. then the phone buzzes.
She says… Yes.
Moral of the story, if you like someone just ask them, tell them and don’t waste time, also don’t annoy me when I haven’t had a Gin and Tonic aha!
