Good morning everyone,
On the second last day I was lucky enough to go visit a series of Volcanic Tunnels! As Madeira was once a very active volcano, naturally there have been tunnels produced when the lava forced its way through the solid rock. As we arrived we stood outside the entrance in the sweltering heat. Then as you walk through the doors into the Volcanic tunnels the temperatures drops dramatically, ice cold, you start to regret your decision wearing shorts and a polo!
Once you start walking through the Volcanic tunnels you realise how amazing it really is! What was once a very volatile volcano is now sleeping soundly! At one point it was actually raining inside the tunnels! It was such a cool experience. The tour is about 15-20 minutes long and definitely worth visiting if you are ever in Madeira.
Hope you all have a great day!
